Single-direction counterbalance valve for hydraulic load control

Description:

VBCD single-direction counterbalance valves combine a pilot-operated pressure-control element with an integral check valve for hydraulic actuator circuits. The valve controls flow from the actuator side in one direction, while the check valve allows flow in the reverse direction.

The SE-G series is available with maximum flow ratings of 40 or 60 L/min, a 4.5:1 pilot ratio, and BSPP or metric ports. The SE-A series covers 20 to 160 L/min, with 4.5:1 or 5.5:1 pilot ratios and port sizes from G1/4 to G1, plus selected metric thread options. All models listed in the datasheet have a maximum pressure rating of 350 bar.

SE-G Port Options

Available models include G3/8, G1/2, M18×1.5 and M22×1.5 connections. Port size and maximum flow depend on the selected model.

VBCD SE-A Standard Sizes

SE-A models from G1/4 to G1/2, including selected metric versions, cover maximum flow ratings from 20 to 60 L/min with a 4.5:1 pilot ratio.

VBCD SE-A High-Flow Sizes

G3/4 and G1 SE-A models provide maximum flow ratings of 95 and 160 L/min respectively, with a 5.5:1 pilot ratio and maximum pressure of 350 bar.

Connection & Model Code Options

SE-G BSPP Connections

VBCD SE-G models are available with G3/8 or G1/2 ports. The G3/8 model is rated at 40 L/min, while the G1/2 model is rated at 60 L/min.

SE-G Metric Connections

Metric SE-G options include M18×1.5 for 40 L/min and M22×1.5 for 60 L/min. Both models use a 4.5:1 pilot ratio.

SE-A BSPP Connections

BSPP SE-A models are available in G1/4, G3/8, G1/2, G3/4 and G1 sizes, covering maximum flow ratings from 20 to 160 L/min.

Metric Ports & Pressure Tap Code

SE-A metric options include M14×1.5, M18×1.5 and M22×1.5. For SE-G models, add “M” after the model code when a pressure tap is required.

Flow, Pressure & Pilot Ratio Selection

SE-G Flow Ratings

SE-G models are rated at 40 or 60 L/min, depending on the selected port size. All listed SE-G models have a maximum pressure rating of 350 bar.

SE-A Standard Flow Range

G1/4, G3/8 and G1/2 SE-A models provide maximum flow ratings of 20, 40 and 60 L/min respectively, with a 4.5:1 pilot ratio.

SE-A High-Flow Range

G3/4 and G1 SE-A models are rated at 95 and 160 L/min respectively. These larger models use a 5.5:1 pilot ratio.

Pilot Ratio Selection

Pilot ratio is model-specific: 4.5:1 for SE-G and standard-size SE-A models, and 5.5:1 for G3/4 and G1 SE-A models. Confirm the required ratio with the circuit and load conditions.

Hydraulic Function & Flow Direction

Free flow: Flow from V2 to C2 passes through the integrated check valve toward the actuator.

Controlled return flow: Flow from C2 to V2 passes through the counterbalance element and is controlled according to the valve setting and pilot condition.

Pilot-assisted opening: Pressure at V1 provides pilot force to open the counterbalance element, allowing controlled return flow from the actuator side.

How to Specify a Single-direction Counterbalance Valve

1. Required Flow
Specify the maximum flow required by the hydraulic circuit.

2. System Pressure & Valve Setting
Provide the maximum working pressure and the required counterbalance-valve pressure setting.

3. Pilot Ratio
Select 4.5:1 or 5.5:1 according to the required model and circuit conditions.

4. Port Size & Thread
Confirm the required BSPP or metric port size.

5. Series & Pressure Tap Option
Choose the SE-G or SE-A configuration. For an SE-G pressure tap option, add “M” after the model code.

6. Model & Application Details

Designed for Controlled Load Movement

Load Control in One Direction

The counterbalance element controls flow from the actuator side while the opposite direction is handled through the integrated check valve.

Pilot-Assisted Release

Pilot pressure from V1 assists the opening of the counterbalance element for controlled return flow from C2 to V2.

Free Flow to the Actuator

The integrated check valve allows flow from V2 to C2 toward the actuator without passing through the pressure-control element.

Model-Based Configuration

Select the valve according to required flow, maximum pressure, pilot ratio, port thread, series and pressure-tap requirement.

Applications

Compact Mobile Machinery
Industrial Hydraulic Systems
Hydraulic Cylinder Load-Control Circuits
